Hi I'm David and I've been in the Veterinary Profession in one role or another for 25 years now. I started as a part time receptionist at just 16 before going of to university. In 2005 I graduated the University of Wales, Bangor with a BSc (Hons) in Zoology with Marine Zoology. I gained my RVN status at the start of 2011 whilst working in a busy first opinion small animal hospital but my passion has always been for exotics. Ever since I was a child I have loved reptiles and amphibians so I was incredibly excited in 2014 when I joined Great Western Exotics as an Exotics Nurse dealing with a 100% exotics caseload of first opinion and referral cases. I gained my City and Guilds Certificate in Veterinary Nursing of Exotic Species at the end of 2016 and I've lectured in many shapes and forms since then. My first passion for exotics soon expanded to a love of teaching as well. In 2025 I set up DS Exotic CPD to help spread knowledge of nursing exotic patients. After nearly 12 years at GWE I now split my time between CPD and clinical work in practice. I'm incredibly motivated to pass on the knowledge that I have been lucky enough to have been taught by incredible vets and nurses throughout my career. I love talking all things exotics and demonstrating to fellow professionals that exotics really aren't that scary.
