The Reform of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 consultation is one of the most significant opportunities the veterinary profession has had in a generation to influence how it is regulated. The Act hasn’t been meaningfully updated since 1966, a time before veterinary nursing was a recognised profession, before allied professionals existed in any formal sense, and long before the modern veterinary sector looked anything like it does today.

This PeerVet course brings together everything you need to engage with the consultation confidently. You’ll find the official documents, plain-English summaries of what each section proposes, background reading on why the Act is being reformed, and prompt materials to help you organise your thoughts before responding.

Your response is your own. PeerVet is not here to tell you what to think, or to push a particular position. The goal is simply to make it as easy as possible for more people in the profession to be heard.
